Sell your tool to a critical audience who will want to know:
  • What is the tool/concept/idea?
  • How have you tested it? What did the testers think?
  • Why would we want to use it?
  • What is it able to do?
  • How has it evolved and what changes have you had to make? How and why?
  • What do the learners think of it?
  • Is it making a difference or will it make a difference? How do you know?
  • What has driven you in the development?
  • How is it different from other similar tools?
  • What does your team (us) think?
The project is not finished until it is finished and this was a hard concept to get, that the iterations, feedback, testing, data analysis, design element, purpose, are always in a state of work in progress. The other aspect was seeing what the point of difference was of other similar tools - eg. DMIC. There were some epiphanies through the day and also when people got home and had lightbulbs with their students eg. Nicola .
As a coach, provocateur there is a fine line between giving too much of my ideas but instead growing and refining or reshaping their ideas. The temptation is to find an easy solution but that defeats the design for learning concept. The group provided some great 'what if's' and maybe you... and have you thought of....and I wonder.... The power of the group who trust, respect and relate to each, other cannot be overestimated and this was evident on Monday. The collaborative feeling was palpable and the generosity of spirit and ideas exciting. I enjoyed the dynamics of the day and working with Dorothy always a pleasure. What a blessing to be with such forward-thinking and positively positive teachers and educators. Jenny's 'pop-ins' always give another perspective which enriches the narrative.
