Partnership with the Faculty of Education at the University of Auckland in a Virtual Practicum. We have been presented with an opportunity to partner with the University of Auckland to build partnerships with Manaiakalani in the Teacher Training space through a Practicum Pilot.  The Head of Teacher Education is keen to see future Practicum Programmes include Manaiakalani’s digital teaching and learning processes and pedagogy.  This pilot is a chance to share our expertise, knowledge and skills and influence future teachers coming into our profession and schools. Designing a digital learning experience: Using the brief they have been given, what they have learned from the introductory session about Manaiakalani’s signature pedagogy and access to further seminars through the Manaiakalani Innovative Teachers resource, the STs will work in groups of 4-5 to design a digital learning experience that responds to the brief they have received.                                                                           Online Practicum June 15th - June 25th, 2020                                                       One door shuts another opens Covid 19 struck NZ and the world changed.  Manaiakalani opened up yet another door and opportunity, by partnering with the Faculty of Education at the University of Auckland, to participate in an Online Practicum.   The Faculty had contacted us for help with 110 Grad Dip. students, who could not complete  a face to face practicum. This was a challenge we could not resist, so working with the Head of Teacher Education, we put together an online distance learning Practicum. Enlisting the help of 28 teachers in the Manaiakalani clusters and outreach, we partnered them with groups of 4 Grad.Dip students, to complete a 2 week Pilot practicum. With the years of learning online being part of our programme, we were able to help the Faculty and share our expertise.  We did what we do best

Add caption                          Change  Leaving a city and a life you created, is hard but it also offers choice and change.  The choice I had was to take the chance of a  change to alter direction and vision in my learning.  This has been a test of resilience and courage to step away from all things comfortable and walk a lesser-known path. A new year, a new beginning has its challenges but unless we expose ourselves to these 'blips' we may never know what we are capable of.  My move to Wellington has offered me a different direction, but also new opportunities. From a house to an apartment Adjusting to a different living situation is also a challenge, having no garden and much less room to  store years of 'stuff'. But it also means I can spend more time doing the other things I enjoy taking part in.
